Robert B. Sloan is widely known for his leadership in higher education, public speaking, and nonfiction writings. We realize from his debut novel, Hamelin Stoop: The Eagle, the Cave, and the Footbridge, that he also has remarkable abilities and stirring creativity in the imaginative world of young adult fiction. Sloan’s passion for a great story is felt by his readers and proven in his words: “I think stories are powerful. They shape us and they influence us in ways that abstract philosophies and ideologies cannot.”
Sloan married his college sweetheart, Sue. With seven married children and twenty-one young grandchildren, they especially enjoy large family gatherings with good food and lively conversation around the table. Favorite family activities include table and parlor games, writing and reading stories, coloring, and, of course, storytelling.
