Sharon D. Ulett, M.Ed. is an autistic support teacher working in the School District of Philadelphia. Ms. Ulett was born in Kingston, Jamaica, but migrated to the United States in 1993. She has always had the desire to become an educator, but finally decided to make it her career when one of her sons was diagnosed with a learning disability. Ms. Ulett previously worked in the accounting field and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Management from Philadelphia University. She is also a highly qualified teacher with a master's degree in special education from Arcadia University.
Sharon has a deep love for children and a passion for education. She enjoys teaching, writing and telling stories. Encouragements to write came from her English 101 and 102 professors at the Community College of Philadelphia where she earned an associate degree in Accounting. Her papers were often used as examples for other students to get an idea of the type of work the professors were looking for.
After telling one of her stories at the F. D. Pastorius Elementary School in Philadelphia, the vice principal at the time, Mr. Steven Hawkins, suggested that she write it. The story, The Three Little Urban Pigs, is her first story to be put in print. She recently published her new book, Asheem: The Boy Who Could Not Read. Both books are now available in paperback and ebook.
Sharon is the proud mother of two grown sons, Calvin (US Air Force pilot) and Jaleel (a student at the Aviation Institute of Maintenance, Philadelphia and the third little pig). She is also the proud grandparent of Ayden-Luke.
