Rev. Dr. Stephen A. Robinson and his wife Mary are the co-founders and senior pastors of CrossPoint Church located in both Newport, RI and Providence, RI. CrossPoint church is a multi-cultural, inter-denominational church that touches the lives of people from around the world. CrossPoint has members from various racial and cultural background including, white, black, Asian, Spanish speaking, the Islands, and many others.
Pastor Robinson has a degree in engineering and spent 20 years in the corporate sector as an engineer and Contracts Administrator before leaving for full-time ministry. He is a gifted teacher and leader whose vision is to tear down the walls that have separated and divided the church and society especially in the areas of race and cultural.
Pastor Robinson has received many awards for his work in the community as he continues to provide leadership and counsel to many young pastors and leaders. His corporate training along with his strategic leadership insight makes him a much sought out speaker both nationally and internationally.
He is also the founder of the New England PrayerFest whose purpose is to unite the Body of Christ in times of prayer to help foster revival and bring reformation to the Northeast region of the United States. Over the last 5 years the New England PrayerFest attracted over 5,000 people from around the New England region. His radio program and broadcast called Extraordinary Encounters was heard on 5 radio stations around the country.
In 2015 the Tim Tebow Foundation selected Dr. Robinson and CrossPoint Church to host an event called a Night to Shine. Night to Shine is a Prom for the Special Needs Community. Held at the Newport Marriott Hotel the event saw over 250 guests and over 250 volunteers attend.
In 2015 Newport Life Magazine named Dr. Robinson as one of 10 of their inaugural “Groundbreaker” as a Community Leader for the work he does in the Newport Community. In 2016 he was selected by the Newport Women’s Resource Center as one of 12 distinguished men from the Rhode Island Community at the yearly gala called, “Men Who Make A Difference.”
Dr. Robinson was recently recognized by the Hope for Asia Bible College and Seminary located in India for his outstanding work and contribution to the people of India and support of the college and people in that country. He was awarded a Doctor of Divinity from this institution in May of 2016
His first book called MEGA-Small church has been hailed as a must-read for pastors and leaders. The book is about his ministry journey from the storefront to purchasing a historical church in Newport, RI. The book focuses upon the importance of the small churches in America in the midst of the cultural fascination of Mega-churches.
In over 20 years of ministry in Newport County his organization has feed over 10,000 people, ministered to over 1000 families and continues to reach to the homeless and less fortunate of our community. The oldest of six boys he saw his single parent mother struggle to make ends meet and therefore has a passion for women who also struggle to keep their families intact. His mother Carolyn Silva remains one of his heroes.
In 2015 CrossPoint Church opened an office at the Florence Grey Center to provide tutoring, mentoring and support for families in need in the North End of Newport. In 2018 he and his wife started a brand-new ministry in the City of Providence, called CrossPoint Providence.
CrossPoint Newport has seen its membership grow from under 100 people to over 500 people in 10 years with a weekly attendance of about 400 people.
Dr. Robinson has been married to his wife Mary for 40 years. She has been by his side and is one of the co-founders and Associate Pastors of CrossPoint Church. They have two married children, a daughter, a son, and three granddaughters.
