Warren Treacher was raised in Fullerton, Orange County, California. At age five he caught his first alligator lizard, and at 7 his first gopher snake (a six-foot female). In 1959, he bought a red-tailed boa from a wild-caught South American clutch for five dollars which he kept through his college years at UC Berkeley (he has a degree in geology and English). He purchased his first sandboas (a pair of Egyptians) in 1988 at the East Bay Vivarium and then his first pair of Kenyan sandboas in 1992, which he still has. He has been keeping and breeding colubrinus, johnii, miliaris, jaculus, jayakarii, muelleri and conicus ever since. This book is a joint effort from him and sandboa enthusiasts from around the world.
