7 DAYS IN RUSSIA
M.G. CRISCI, author
7 DAYS IN RUSSIA. IT'S NOT WHAT YOU THINK. Take one very, very curious American, mix in 145 million Russians and a century of preconceived notions and then pour this mixture out against the magnificent urban theater played out daily in Moscow, St Petersburg and Pushkin – and you've got M.G. Crisci's book, 7 Days in Russia—The Adventures of One American in Today’s Federation. We learn through words, insights and more than 150 revealing color photos taken by Crisci that Russia is not a politically repressed country of starving millions that survive day-to-day on an endless stream of vodka. Russians are, in fact, a proud, engaging, curious and, yes, quirky people, working their way through a protracted complex historic political, cultural and economic transition. As Crisci came to learn ordinary Russians are very much like the millions ordinary Americans. They want to hold on to vestiges of the past while running full speed ahead into what Henry Kissinger calls "The New World Order."
Reviews
***** San Francisco Literary Review

If you've never considered a trip to Russia, you'll be really tempted after reading 7 Days in Russia. This is a fascinating travelogue by M. G. Crisci. The book itself strikes you at first glance: a large-format, high-end production in landscape format.Turn it over to its back cover, flip it right side up and the exactly same book appears, same text, same illustrations, but in Russian -- two book sin one!

The pages are heavy stock and glossy, text is large, writing is pleasant; it is an easy read, entertaining and with good humor. As in a travel book, many photos illustrate the text and these are good snapshots with occasional excellent photos ranging from quarter-page to full page (with a few too many with the author).  From his previous books on Russia he had good contacts in the country which he used on his trip, interviewing people and learning about Russia and Russian life -- with generally good impressions. This is a great coffee table book.
