Mikea lived in the desolate North Lands. She had no friends so she wrote a letter to Santa Claus in which she asked him not to bring her any gifts but to bring her a little girl to play with for one evening. Sydney Hayes had befriended Santa the year before. so he asked her to accompany him to visit Mikea. Sitting beside Santa in his sleigh, while they drifted through the star lit sky was a "magical journey." When they arrived at Mikea's house, her family were shocked to see their visitors. The two girls spent the evening together Out in the barnyard, Mikea's dog and donkey visited with the reindeer. When it was time to leave, the girls vowed to "be friends for life".
