Author Elisa Marie Hopkins's writing is sharp, delicious and brilliant. She wrote a novel that made me sweat and cry for Sophie. Hopkins has a way of bringing characters to life, and makes it easy for me to get sucked into the story and all its many twists and turns. I found myself immersed in this book in the best possible way. Now I'm gearing up to read more of her future novels.
This book was amazing. A Diamond In the Rough sucked me in at page one and didn't spit me back out to page 353.
Elisa has a wonderful way with words. There was a balance of equal parts drama and equal parts romance....which was done in a classy way!
She made strong characters and I loved them both.
Can't wait for the next installment.

The main character is Sophia Cavall, a twenty-something model embedded in the world of fashion. However, her life is turned upside down when she receives death threats and is the victim of a kidnapping attempt. She finds herself with the handsome, enigmatic Oliver Black to thank. Hopkins does an excellent job pacing the story well with just the right balance of build-up and twists and turns. Sophia is a dynamic, interesting character, and it is fascinating reading how she deals with the tricky situations she faces. If you're looking for a fun new romance with mystery and suspense, I'd highly recommend "A Diamond in the Rough" to you.
I really enjoyed this adult contemporary novel quite thoroughly! The setting and characters were very relatable in many aspects, which is a great focal point that defiantly adds to this story. This book took me through a wrenched world of questions and uncertainties, and left me unsure of what was truly fact or fiction. The POV is told only by Sophia, so the diversity of personal thoughts and opinions was a bit scarce. Although this probably made the book better because, as a reader, we should only see what the author want us to see, and with only one possibly bias viewpoint, it makes the plot twists even more shocking. And trust me, the plot twist defiantly caught me off guard and made me have a complete freak out moment as I was reading!!
