I loved the book! Right away I was drawn in. It's honest and real. The book is a quick read because it's so raw. I read it in three sittings only because of my time constraints. I did not want to put it down. Life is filled with good stories but Jennifer Irwin has a way of telling it like no other author. Read! Buy! Enjoy
This book is so engaging; a quick read. Characters are well developed and relatable. I enjoyed the array of emotions the writer pulls you through. There is heartbreak, sadness, joy, and excitement! The best part of the book is that I felt I came away from it a less judgmental and more compassionate person.
To be perfectly honest, I just don't read much fiction, for pleasure. I'm more of a news and biography junkie.
I had heard the good reviews about A Dress the Color of the Sky, and thought " Well, I have time, while on a recent international flight, to check it out". Well, I couldn't put it down. From the first page, it captured my attention-I laughed, I blushed, I read it straight through. I seriously can't recall the last time that has happened. Thank You, Jennifer Irwin, for sharing Prudence with me and changing my reading habits. You have a tremendous gift.
From the minute I picked up A Dress the Color of the Sky, I was attached to the characters, especially Pru. Jennifer has a great way of telling a story, jumping between present time and the past that really works. The story is engaging and you quickly want to find out what happens to Prudence and the other characters. It is about a topic that I am not very familiar with and some of the parts are difficult to read but, I finished the novel, feeling I have a better understanding of people with addictions.
I am so glad to see that the film rights have been sold as I think this will translate well to the big screen.
Great job, Jennifer Irwin! I hope to read another novel from you in the very near future-maybe a sequel...?
This book is so good! Prudence opens herself up immediately from the beginning and you just want to reach out and hug her. She is witty, funny, and completely a character you can relate to in spite of her personal challenges. We know her. In some place in time, that girl that seeks beyond the norm for fulfillment. We live vicariously through her. We are her. At some point in our lives. The way she thinks. The way she feels.
I found myself pulled into Prue's world from the get-go! The Author Jennifer Irwin did not waste time dishing out the depth of the character. Such a beautiful, fragile soul that continues throughout the book had to face so many obstacles that the universe had in store for her. It was heartbreaking and yet exciting to read. I found myself secretly hoping that the right choices would be made for her quickly! I felt her pain while following along her journey of despair, thrill, and joy. An easy read to bring along on a plane ride across the continent or a great read when curled up by the fire on a gloomy day. Thumbs up Jennifer Irwin you have my 5 stars!
This was a well written guilty pleasure with a psychological twist! Really enjoyed it and was sad when it ended! I loved the character development. Sure wish there was a sequel.
A Dress the Color of the Sky” is a beautifully written story of a woman finding her path and ultimately finding peace within herself. The novel pulls you into a story of childhood and its ripple through adulthood. The novel is descriptive in thought and story: it is hard to put down.
A Dress the Color of the Sky’ is eye-opening, incredibly moving and really makes you think. Pru’s struggles and addiction are heartbreaking but her strength to push through and overcome is so inspiring. I felt I was given the opportunity to walk in her shoes and gain a little insight into that dark struggle of abuse and addiction.
Truly great work Jennifer Irwin!
I just finished Jennifer Irwin’s book. I’m in awe. The characters were so well developed that I felt like I knew them personally by the time I reached the end of the book. I find myself rooting for Prue and Alistair to live happily ever after. Thank you to this gifted writer for a deeply moving and entertaining read.
I thoroughly enjoyed this novel by Jennifer Irwin. From beginning to end, I was captivated by her unique writing style, lively dialogue, and interesting storyline. This book deals with an important topic that is truly timely and relevant. Five stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
