A Life Rebuilt: The Remarkable Transformation of a War Orphan

Born in Belgium in 1939 to Jewish parents who were murdered at Auchwitz, Sylvia Ruth Gutmann and her two sisters spent their early years in hiding in the south of France.  Deeply traumatized, Syvia arrived in NYC at age seven, where a well-meaning uncle and a cruel aunt take her in.  She is told to leave the past behind and move on.  As an adult, Syvlia spends decades putting the pieces of her life back together. A Life Rebuilt chronicles her odyssey spanning sixty years, three countries, and thousands of miles. It is a heartbreaking and ultimately inspiring story, told in an intimate voice and ending with a surprising resolutuion.
