A Very Personal Favor
R. M. Catton, author
This story is that of the transcendent meaning of a little boy receiving for Christmas a wear-worn toy airplane of another era. It is Christmas Eve and Aaron Tannenbaum, the elderly president of Tannenbaum Toy Company, encounters a young mother and her two children, a nine year old girl and her younger brother, sitting alone at an air terminal. He learns that their soldier father has just shipped out for duty in the Middle East. Deeply touched by their plight which evokes painful memories of his own boyhood in Nazi Germany he decides to provide them with a Christmas they will always fondly remember, his favor to their soldier father. "A Very Personal Favor" blends the miraculous spirit of Christmas with reverence for American liberty.
