Assignment (The Cerenia Chronicles Book 1)
Angela Howes, author
In a city divided between the workers who keep the economy going and the families who bolster the population, eighteen-year-old graduate Phoebe Ray is assigned to a solitary life as a newspaper delivery girl, forbidden from marrying, seeing her family more than twice a year, or ever having children. But when childhood flame Noah and charming neighbor Sky enter the picture, Phoebe must decide whether a chance at love is worth risking imprisonment, banishment from society, and ultimately, death. And when a city-wide strike breaks out leaving everyone vulnerable, Phoebe has an even greater decision to make. Should she turn her back on the fight to save her friends and family, or is it finally time to make a stand?

Once I started to read this book I could not put it down. The characters are engaging and you feel as if you know them. The story takes you into a closed, controlled world. It gets very exciting at the end because you need to find out what is going to happen and that will be in the second book of the series. Hurry up since I am hanging on a cliff.

I've never read a near 400 page book within a week, but I simply couldn't put this one down. You quickly get sucked into the series: the author's riveting descriptions and action-packed, surprise-filled adventure paired with suspenseful and passionate romance draw you into another world and a beautiful story. I found the author Angela's alternate world where Phoebe must choose between work and love to be incredibly relevant and refreshing especially in today's day and age. I would strongly recommend this book to anyone, young or old, who wants a good read and enjoys books that aren't difficult to read through but that are still rich with artistry and symbolism. When does the next one come out!?!!

*4.5 stars
This book was so good! I couldn’t put it down. I think I read the entire thing in like two sittings because it was so addicting. I liked the writing style and how I felt like I knew the characters. The only reason I’m not giving this 5 stars is because there were a few times when I found myself skimming over some of the pages that were a little boring. I was expecting this book to be good, but it was way better than I was expecting. It was like a mix of Matched and The Giver. So good!

I'm not that much of a reader but this novel opened my eyes to an adventous thrilling plot in a world where one has to strive for their own choices when they may not be as accessible. Angela is the next J.K. Rowling!
