Author Tammy Hendricks is a teddy bear artist as well as a mental health professional with degrees in psychology, human relations and counseling.

Her book, Bear with Hope is about dealing with tough times, but it's not a typical self-help book. Hendricks presents stories from a variety of people in all kinds of situations---stories of grief, pain and loss, and how they found their way back to hope. Most importantly she shares the stories of the challenges she's faced in her own life, having been born without a right hand and forearm. Her stories, along with a myriad of other personal tales, anecdotes, quotes and inspiration are grouped by some general themes including creativity, laughter, nature, music and more.

The book is illustrated throughout with photos of art, much of which involves teddy bears. While Hendricks' personal connection with teddy bears is evident, Bear with Hope isn't about teddy bears, and it's well worth checking out for anyone who could use an uplifting tale on a gloomy day or a reminder, during one's own tough times, that there is still hope to be found.
