This is a wonderful sweet read. It deals with the life of young growing boys during war and after the great depression in downtown NYCity. The author's recollections are priceless and teaches the reader, through his experiences, to love and appreciate life with whatever you are dealt. Colaio does this through humor and depth. I recommend this book to all, especially fitting in these hard economic times, to go back and appreciate what we do in fact have.

This review is from: Between Two Bridges (Paperback)

A great book that tells the story of reality in the LOWER EAST SIDE of New York. Most have heard of the LES but few have lived it and wrote about it. This book gives you a look into the daily life of its reality. Lighthearted and a quick read, I recommend it to all. I grew up there and give it a big thumbs up!

Growing up on the Lower East Side in the mid Twentieth Century cannot be described any better than Victor Colaio does in "Between Two Bridges." I highly recommend this book to all New Yorkers - no matter what age group. And if you come from other parts of the country, you can't help but enjoy this brilliant book too. If people not from New York City can flock to watch a ridiculous program like "Mob Wives," they should read a book that is true to life, not a stereotype of the worst possible people in the New York City area.
