Blind the Eyes (Threads of Dreams, 1)
K.A. Wiggins, author

Children/Young Adult; Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Horror; (Market)

In a drowned city overrun by monsters, one girl rejects everything she's ever known to become more than she could have ever imagined.

A dark fantasy-meets-ecopunk-dystopia of monsters and magic perfect for fans of This Savage Song and Anna Dressed in Blood.

"Why we loved it: A unique twist on the YA-dystopian genre, Wiggins weaves a complex tale that unfolds like a dream itself—mystical, and sometimes odd, but always captivating." —20 Favorite Indie Books of 2018, Barnes & Noble Press)

This city may hold monsters. But it also holds magic. And both are showing a dangerous interest in me.

The path to survival is obedience. At least, that’s what Refuge teaches.

Surrender every hope and desire, reject the deadly illusions of choice and personal freedom, and embrace isolation—or the monstrous Mara will devour your dreams and leave behind nothing more than a hollow shell.

Cadence—the childish ghost who has haunted me since the night I screwed up and first drew the attention of the monsters—says that’s a load of crap.

She claims there’s a whole world outside these walls just waiting for me.

She’s a liar.

Outside of Refuge, there's nothing left but a drowned city long since engulfed by toxic fog and monster-teeming floodwaters.

So, when a mesmerizing golden-eyed stranger shows up with a dangerously tempting offer, I know better to listen. Until the assignment that was supposed to finally wipe my record clean and secure my position in Refuge exposes an earth-shattering secret.

Both the only home I've ever known, and the illusion of safety it once represented are ripped away as the state's enforcers hunt me from the forbidden heights of the Towers of Refuge to the glittering, debauched excesses of the underground club Freedom in their quest to keep what I've learned from sparking outright rebellion.

But as dangerous as the human inhabitants of this city can be, they're nothing compared to the ghosts and monsters that haunt my city. When the souls of the Mara-taken invade my waking dreams, I find myself in a race against time to stop the dying—before the nightmares eat me alive.

In a city where hope kills and dreams are deadly, the power to stand and fight is just a choice away.

But the price of survival may be more than I can afford—and the price of triumph, unimaginable.

Read the atmospheric and twisty YA dark fantasy today!
