In the spring of 2077, Jack Stephens, a senior homicide detective and twenty-nine year veteran of the Richmond Police Department, was looking forward to retirement in a few short months. Unfortunately, a series of grisly murders appear destined to shatter Jack’s plans.

Night after night young women are brutally murdered each death more horrific than the last, and the only clues to the killer are cryptic religious symbols written on the walls of the crime scenes in the victim's blood. Decades ago, the religious symbols would not have seemed weird, but the government outlawed public displays of religion before Jack was born.

Faced with a seemingly insurmountable task, Jack must collaborate with the most unlikely of characters, a rookie detective, an old priest, and a childhood enemy who Jack blames for the death of his father.
