Witty fast-paced adventure story.
I really loved this story of four retired friends and their summer adventures. One of the four, Charlie, stuns his pals when he is given the opportunity to buy a beautiful yacht for a bargain price because his cousin died and the widow wants to be rid of it. They take all the necessary courses and plan a grand trip, even hoping to venture out into “blue water.” But, along the way, they discover that others are very interested in their new boat. And they further find that Charlie’s cousin died on the yacht under mysterious circumstances. Mischief, mayhem, action, adventure, gun fighting and a bear (oh my!) ensue as the friends try to solve the mystery and still have a good time on their trip.
The writer’s breezy style and the witty banter of the characters keep the story moving along at a brisk pace. I highly recommend this novel to adventure-loving readers who believe, as I do, that retirement only means the fun is just getting started. And I can’t wait to read about the further adventures of this intrepid crew.
