A 17-year-old High School girl, Candace, is found at the bottom of the family swimming pool by her mother. In a coma, Candy is approached by a demon, Sunesis, for an experiment he's ready for: to use a human, enriched by supernatural abilities, to defeat rogue demons out for their own agendas. Candace is in the position of being an advanced lab rat, or death by Sunesis, and he will move along to the next human subject.

Thoroughly enjoyable action yarn, with many humorous moments along the way. The players: Candy is an accomplished volleyball player who is schooled in the art of demon assassination.

Sunesis is the regional powerful demon who is using the girl for his own enjoyable distraction.

Zuniga is the police detective, along with semi-partner Williams, looking into a mass murder of slave traffickers, along with a crime scene closely related to the one at Candace's house.

Emiliano Delgado is a powerful humaaja, one of the rogue demons dabbling in human affairs.

I'm hoping this is the beginning of a series, as I enjoyed the dialogue between Candy, and the demon Sunesis, and between her and the detective.
