Celestina the Astronaut Ballerina
Donald Jacobsen, author
Celestina is a brilliant little girl with a big dream - to be the first girl to walk on the moon. But, she bullied by classmates and teased by adults, and starts to lose hope. Miss Stella - a new teacher - arrives in the story and inspires Celestina to be anything she wants to be. In the end, Celestina surpasses her goal of walking on the moon and ends up being the first person to walk on Mars. The story closes with an image of Celestina dancing on the red planet.
This story teaches children (and adults) about the importance of resisting peer pressure, following their dreams regardless of gender stereotypes, and the impact that words and actions can have.
