Concerning Georgia Stekker
This is a cautionary tale about a woman driven to swindle fortune hunters. It is a 1950's novel. Georgia Stekker is a beautiful, finely tuned college student with great academic promise. She lives with womanizing Larry Fuchs for three years while he attends law school. At his graduation exercises, he abruptly discards her to join hands with a woman unknown to her whose father heads a prestigious real estate law firm. Georgia suffers a nervous breakdown. She recovers but has lost her will. She meets the older Lavelle Foosie who created the lucrative “Ensnarement Business.” Lavelle mentors Georgia in the black art of swindling fortune hunters for revenge and profit. She tells Georgia, “Even if you can’t reach Larry, you can revenge yourself on his kind.” Georgia spends five years in the business but cannot reap satisfaction. She must go after Larry himself. She builds The Georgia Stekker Enterprises (large real estate holdings), and hires psychopathic Larry, seemingly resurrecting his “dead in the water” legal career. Then she destroys him. Georgia is never the same.

There is no one in the literary world like Georgia Strekker. She's a tragic anti-heroine we can't help but fall in love with, even as she works to detach us from our wallets. Beautiful, smart, cunning, and broken--Georgia is Evelyn Marshall's most divine creation yet.
