Wow! I loved this book from page one. Susan has created a cast of characters that will draw you in, make you love, hate, root for the good and shake fists (and maybe shout a few curses) at the bad. Dominic is the epitome of sleek, sensual delight. He exudes all of those potent qualities right off the pages. There were times I wanted to smack him upside the head and shake sense into him, and other times that he made my heart melt. Cassidy is a breath of fresh air with a wicked stubborn streak. From the start, she shows she is not a woman to take things sitting down, and that carries strong throughout. I truly enjoyed her character. And Serge? Don't even get me started. For a secondary character, he packs a punch of humor!
This book will not disappoint. Susan remains true to her characters from start to finish. I can't wait to see what happens next!
In her debut story, Dark Heart of the Sun, S.K. Ryder introduces the reader to a world that is rich and varied. There are lots of interesting people and creatures.
The story opens with Cassidy calling off her engagement to vampire hunter, Jackson Striker. When Cassidy inadvertently stumbles on a handsome vampire named Dominic, all kinds of interesting adventures happens. I’ll not give away any spoilers. Just know that this story has enough twists and turns to keep readers interested and turning the pages.
If you are looking for a fresh take on vampires in a great book you won’t want to put down, you must give Dark Heart of the Sun a read. A round of applause from me to Ms. Ryder for her creativity and talent. I can’t wait to read more from this new writer.
A humorous tale where everything is backwards and inside out creating friction between a lost sexy French speaking vampire and a young reporter who already has a knight errant claiming her affections. Or at least trying to claim them. Not everything is sugar and spice as Ryder treats the topics of violence and death with more care and thoughtfulness than frequently found in fiction. The story kept me up turning virtual pages long past my bedtime. I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it for young adults and up.
