Drawing with Whitman was a very fast reading, heartwarming story about a young girl who learns firsthand about challenges in life and depression. I very much enjoyed the dialogue in the book and the development of Cat’s character as she begins to learn about art!! Brilliantly introduced to her by Benton Whitman....a great character name by the way!! I also enjoyed the poetry throughout the book. The information regarding organizations that deal with depression in the rear part of the book was helpful for those pre-teens who may be struggling... whether with their own depression or with others.
Well done Kristin! Looking forward to the next book in your series!! - Michelle D. Bowen
Read for my own use: very sensitive story touching on two important issues for the age group! Art and mental subjects! Many schools have cut art appreciation classes and avoid mental problems. Looking forward to the rest of the Sourland Mountain series. Thank you Kristin! ***** - Judy Arfsten
Kristin McGlothlin knows her target audience! This is a must read for Pre-teens and parents alike. - Tom Taylor
