Environmental Therapy
Martin Norman, author
The book looks at a variety of approaches using the outdoor environments to help children and young people feel able to express, understand, and move forward in their lives from traumatic and abusive experiences. It focuses on two environments in particular the seashore and local parks, though other environments are included too using role-plays, applying outdoor skills (Canoeing), using environments familiar and safe for the young person, and using animal assisted therapy to build trust and security for the young person. It is based on therapeutic experiences of the author working with clients outdoors.
