Explosions of Joy: A Memoir of the Grief Counselor for Missing Malaysia Airlines Flight 370
Trina A. Kraus, author
Paul Yin was the grief counselor for families of victims aboard the missing Malaysia Airlines Flight 370. His memoir tells the inspiring story of the paths he walked before that moment. In 1986 he was told, "psychology has no place in Chinese society and you know it!" which sparked his resolve to establish a meaningful place for the field in China. He injected himself and valuable psychology training into several crises in China including SARS and the Asiana 214 disaster which affected three Chinese teens. Finally, Paul was instrumental in developing the Employee Assistance Program in China and opening the country to the need for psychological intervention. His hard work was widely recognized during the MH370 tragedy because of his role working with the Chinese families and as an advocate to the press.
