Having spent millennia trying to teach humanity how to tie its own shoelaces, God’s finally given up and gone into hiding. Problem is, there’s a spot of bother on the horizon and we might need a bit of help. It’s not exactly the apocalypse, but stopping it could mean all the difference between millennia of misery and suffering and… well, whatever it is that we call our existence at the moment. The good news is that Heaven has organised a search party. The bad news is that it’s made up of a couple of bumbling Angels and a bloke called Kevin who doesn’t much believe in hard work – or God for that matter. Still, being on a mission from God does seem to Kevin like a good excuse to go run amok in the Holy Land with his mates, but their ‘bit of a lark’ quickly turns into the holiday from Hell as they’re kidnapped by a Dwarf Mafia, flown halfway around the world by a drunken Russian aviator-cum-contraband smuggler in a stolen and decidedly un-airworthy military cargo plane, and narrowly avoid being blown up by some trigger-happy chaps from the Israeli Defence Force – all while being stalked by a dodgy Demon who’s hellbent on their destruction. But have they been led on a wild goose chase? Is finding God really going to avert the disaster, or is the fate of humankind actually being decided in a mysterious Bingo Parlour somewhere in deepest, darkest Wales?
