From 12th Street to Opportunity
G.L. Vogwill, author
The book is inspired by the widespread evil which seems to have plagued our society so deeply, it seems impossible to drag yourself out. Jim Lisette is the main character in the book, who is an unfortunate victim of the unforgiving disease: gun violence. More often than we’d like to admit, the legal system is not sufficient enough to bring justice to the criminals or the victims. Jim suffers from a similar situation, the police aren't able to provide him justice, so he sets out taking matters into his own hands – he is out to seek vengeance. He sets out on an unstoppable rampage, starting in Pennsylvania to all the way through Columbia; he goes one by one to find those who have contributed to the result of his loss. Upon his return to the USA, he is bound to suffer the consequences of the crimes he has committed throughout the globe. But he takes this as an opportunity to preach his own socio/political agenda. His aim is to leave the legal system so speechless that they will have to bring about some permanent changes. This book is an unusual and fictional take on a topic that is widely suffered from but never discussed openly. However, the story is weaved around a topic which is supposedly boring, but Vogwill has found a way to turn it into a page-turning thriller, filled with intrigue and curiosity, and will make it difficult to put it down. It serves pseudo purpose; it’s provoking the legal system to ask questions they have never been asked before, but at the same time the reader is asking himself the very same questions – which may or may not contribute to bringing about a change bigger than personal.
