From The Heartland
J W Sloter, author
Though classed as historical fiction, for all practical purposes the book is a memoir. All key parts of the story are based on facts. Walt, one of the last of his generation, tells his story. Born in 1923, as a young Marine he fought in the Battle of Okinawa in 1945. After the war he finishes his education and has a career as a corporate attorney. The challenges he faces are similar to those faced by many young veterans today. The truth of the saying, 'the more things change the more they stay the same,' is illustrated in 'From The Heartland.'
