I really enjoyed this debut novel...it was action packed with believable characters...the concept of the story was interesting as well as unique! The author drew me into the story by peaking my curiosity in the fast opening..held me there with her endearing charaters...and kept the pace with a breath taking adventure. Definite page turner. Can't wait for the next book!! Lot of fun and excitement.
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest reviewI really wasn't sure of this book. I don't read a whole lot of fantasy. But the cover was beautiful and drew me in.There was pretty much a genocide. Getting rid of a specific color of people. It just made me sad. These people did nothing wrong. Killed for no reason but the color of their skin. Teak is saved by Entho within seconds of her death.Teak has become really strong willed and still has a huge hatred for those who killed her friends. She is skilled with weapons but wants to learn about Dragons. As I'm learning with her. It made me sad how the Dragons are treated. This is a world I would not want to be a part of. I feel bad to Teak, having to live this life.Events change In her life, headed in a different direction. Not knowing what's going to happen. There's so much action and heartache in this story. I really enjoyed this book and can't wait to read the second one in the series....Lissa
This book is highly entertaining with relatable characters and an exciting plot. I read this book and loved it and then gave it to my younger sister and step mother and they loved it too! This book is perfect for all ages. We can't wait for the next books by L.L. Crane!!!!
When all that keeps you alive is a mark of power, you learn to find a way to not only survive, but thrive. Despite what Teak has been trained to do she faces a choice that could lead her in a completely different direction. With her world becoming smaller and more volatile Teak must choose the path that might keep her alive. When a new law is passed she and her new companions find out exactly how cruel the world can be.
I love a good dystopian story, but one with dragons is even better. I love the characters, particularly Teak who is as much sixteen year old girl as she is trained killer. Author L. L. Crane paints a picture of a future society that is very backwards in many ways. Lives are at stake and Teak will have to call on her new acquaintances as well as every ounce of training and knowledge she has to even have a small chance at seeing another birthday.
