Gingerly, Book 1 in the chapter book series based on this main character, is about a 5th grade girl who is much taller and heavier than most of her peers. She is extremely shy and lonely. She is bullied by the most popular boy in school. All she wants is to be invisible. Then, one day, she bumps into the new girl in school, Zoey, whose flaming orange hair matches her outgoing personality. She and Gingerly become fast friends despite Gingerly's reservations. Together, they learn that they can overcome any obstacle together.
