And if Jerkface thinks he can threaten my man...

He's got another thing coming.

This novella is an adult contemporary romance featuring a disabled hero who (still) happens to be a rich and sexy alpha male with a potty mouth.

Cale and Mickey: Book 3 of 4

Reviews
Author Jessica Jesinghaus

This is yet another un-put-downable installment of the Cale & Mickey series.

I cannot get enough of these two! Their banter & ripostes are so fast as to leave you breathless, their love & passion undeniable. If you're looking for a fast paced read with witty dialogue this series is certainly it! If you're looking for me, I'll just be in the corner sulking until the final installment is released.

Oh, how I love Mickey and Cale! This is the third installment in their series and Annie Arcane never disappoints. Mickey and Cale are now engaged, but still struggling with his stubbornness, her desire to push his buttons, and the importance of telling the truth – no matter what it is. This novella is told mostly from Mickey’s perspective, yet we still get some chapters told by the sexy, bad-mouthed, but wonderful Cale.

Being a short novella, I can’t go into a very lengthy review without spoilers, but I loved this one just as much as the previous two in the series. First, I adore these two characters that Annie Arcane has created. They are wonderfully flawed with a lifetime of issues of their own. Yet they are successful and happy for the most part. Most importantly, they are madly in love with each despite the flaws. Secondly, Arcane’s writing style, specifically the way she captures both dialogue and inner thoughts, is amazing. The way she presents this to the readers allows you to see their expressions and hear their voices as you read as if you were sitting there in the room with them.

If you have not yet started this series, it is past time! I highly recommend this to lovers of women’s fiction and romance with an edge.

Ethereal Pages

Cale and Mickey have been one of my favorite couples, and I just wish these novellas were longer because I can't get enough of them.

Because of the length, I'll keep my "plot synopsis" short and sweet.
Cale and Mickey are engaged, and it feels like everything is going perfectly. But of course life isn't that easy.

I absolutely love love love the writing style. It's casual but thoughtful, with emphases at all the right places. The switch between perspectives were a bit confusing at times, since they happened really often sometimes in the middle of the chapter or a scene. But after a while, I definitely grew to understand the differences in voice, which the writing style helped a lot with.

I was pleasantly surprised at the character development packed into such few pages. The plotline was a little singular, which is understandable considering the novella length, but I absolutely adored the ending, which not only brought about closure but also made my heart sing with happiness.

It's hard for me to have to wait another two months for Hart of Mine, but FINE. I'll wait.

The Genre Minx

Hart of Hers is the third book in the Cale & Mickey series. This is a series that you will need to read from the start as they build upon each other. I have been a fan of this series since book one! This is absolutely due to the storyline and the characters, they are so unique. With each new novella, I learn more about these characters and they manage to surprise me. This story is told in first person from the point of view of either Mickey or Cale. The transitions are introduced in a way that you immediately know from who’s viewpoint you are reading. Trust me once you start reading you won’t be able to put this novella (errrrr…e-book reading device) down.

I was eagerly awaiting this story because I wanted to know where things were going with Cale and a certain blackmailer. What was he holding back from book 2?? Then, while reading this story, I learned that Mickey was also keeping her secrets. What’s worse was that the situation she was dealing with was just plain sinister. What was going on?! They are getting married. What’s with all these secrets?? The withholding of truth has created conflict between these characters but in the end, they handle it in their own unconventional ways.

The love and passion between these characters is something you can feel with every page you turn. There is angst, tenderness, and a realism that I just adore in this story and series. Mickey is not a pushover and has her own creative ways of dealing with Cale. Cale is used to being the one calling the shots and he is still adjusting to letting Mickey in his life in all ways. Their relationship comes under duress due to the weight of lies and omissions that stretches between them. There is a lot to be said about trying to protect the one you love by doing what you think is right…for them.

It is in this story where are the white lies and omissions come tumbling out. The ending is one where Mickey will surprise you and all the threads will come together at the end. I am looking forward to the fourth and final novella in this series because I need to know if Mickey and Cale finally get their happily ever after. This is a story that I highly recommend for those of you who like humor, an unconventional relationship, and plenty of sarcasm.

The Reading Cat

I received an ebook of this novel from the author in exchange for an honest review (and maybe my eternal love, but she already has that). Thanks Annie!

God I missed these two. The are the most frustratingly fun couple to read about. I am not kidding; they bicker ALL THE TIME, and they're hilarious - well Mickey is anyway.

This girl...

I'm a huge fan of Annie's sense of humour because it's so close to my own. I just can't get over how much flair Annie had in her writing - it's so full of personality and smartassness (yes I just made up a word - totally acceptable right?).

If I had to find a fault in this novella, is that I wish it was longer. I want more of Mickey and Cale! I wished Annie wrote what Mickey did to save Cale's butt from her perspective. I feel as though that would make an interesting scene, and I could totally imagine the sass Mickey would have.

Other than that, super fun read! Thank you so much Annie!!
