As the daughter and sister of nurses, I found this guide amazing! All I could think the whole time I was reading was how awesome this guide would be in the hands of a high school or college guidance counselor. It is such an easy guide to use and quickly and efficiently readers are able to discover all the information they need for any medically-related career they wish to pursue. Healthcare Heroes by Mary Choy and Michele B. Kaufman is an absolutely fascinating read with real insight from renowned healthcare professionals. The range of professions covered is vast but this guide gives you much more practical information than others in the genre. What I found particularly helpful was the section Day In The Life Of, where you gain an insider view of a normal working day in your chosen career. There is also a section for each profession from the Bureau of Labor statistics which will inform any student of the percentage of employment growth in their chosen field. Every chapter is clearly explained and includes great tips throughout. Each section is full of valuable information and answers all the questions I imagine anyone would have when deciding on their line of specialty. It is literally like having your own personal healthcare mentor at your disposal. Another aspect of this tremendous guide which sets it apart from similar books is that it not only covers the educational requirements, but also the interpersonal skills you will need. This guide is a must-have for any student to ensure their preferred career is going to bring them the utmost satisfaction. As a non-medical person, I have been totally humbled by the work healthcare professionals carry out each day. They truly transform the lives of their patients and their families.
