Kat James thought one hot night between the sheets would get Tucker Williams out of her system.

She was wrong.

Now what?

She may not live long enough to find out...

~ Romance, mystery, and family drama that will keep you reading past your bedtime. ~

Men and relationships have always disappointed Kat James. Not that it matters, because she doesn't believe a woman can have it all, not without giving up her independence and identity; something Kat will not do. If there is such a thing as having it all, it's going to be on Kat's terms. And if there's a man out there who can deal with that, she hasn't met him yet.

Enter Tucker Williams. A cowboy who knows all too well about life's ups and downs. He's learned the hard way that control is illusory. So he meets whatever happens head-on, confronts it without flinching. Because he knows that's his only chance of having control over anything, no matter how brief.

When his eyes set on Kat James, he glimpses a woman who believes she's in control. A woman who feels like a force of nature. A woman who should be wild and free.

A woman who has forgotten how to be either.

When dangerous family secrets surface, Kat will confront the people who've irrevocably changed her life. But in the end, she and Tucker will battle a union of madness they could not have seen coming.

Family is supposed to watch your back, but sometimes they stab you in it instead.

I haven’t had so much fun reading a novel in quite a while. And never as much fun reading a romance novel. Perhaps because Hellkat is also a gripping mystery, filled with intrigue, deception, and danger amid the delicious desire and carnal coupling. But mainly because Robyn’s writing style is so delightfully humorous and pithy, with a wonderfully drawn strong female character.

The two main characters first of all, and then the story, swept me away. From their first encounter in a hotel bar in the opening pages, I was hooked, and Hellkat never let go. The narrative is fast paced and captivating, the language well crafted and witty, with none of the usual genre clichés. The scenes vividly painted, and the characters engagingly portrayed.

I am an unabashed fan of Hallmark Channel’s romance movies and Nora Roberts novels. Hellkat possessed the same flavor in abundance.

In HellKat we meet Kat, a woman of privilege who has turned her back on the family business. But instead of floundering because of her refusal to use her family, she finds her own success. Kat is great at being a business partner, but as a romantic partner…not so much. She goes through men, well, boys, in the words of Robyn Roze, “like haute couture on clearance.” That in a nutshell sums up Kat. At least it was until she met the sexy cowboy Tucker. He’s as tough, if not tougher, than Kat and he’s hellbent on being more than a night between the sheets. The chemistry between Kat and Tucker is off the charts and their initial witty banter makes their growing relationship believable.

What I enjoyed most about HellKat is how genuine Tucker was. He wasn’t a player and although he was charming, he wasn’t slick and smarmy about it. Kat definitely has her walls up and it takes him some time to get her to warm to him, but when she does she’s all in before she even realizes it. Robyn Roze has written a wonderful story full of romance, suspense and mystery. I loved the way Kat's no holds barred personality easily translates from the boys in her life to the storm brewing within her own corrupt family. It was the strength of Kat and the way she came into herself as a full woman instead of a daughter, a businesswoman and a lover. She was determined, she grew, and she did what had to be done without taking any prisoners. It was a great story! Unexpectedly deep and very compelling!

I have found a new heroine, and her name is Hellkat! Kat James is a woman born to privilege, but she has shunned the family business and started her own successful business. She has had a number of lovers, but none of them have stuck. One of my favorite lines EVER in a book surfaced in Hellkat: "Kat tore though men like haute couture on clearance." And there you have the essence of Kat James. Though she has a good heart, she knows what she does and doesn't want in life, and she's not willing to settle. Then Tucker Williams, a cowboy who is as driven as Kat, and who is hell-bent on capturing Kat's love, becomes someone in Kat's world whom she feels she can trust with everything--from her sordid family's secrets to her own guarded heart. Robyn Roze is a standout writer; yes, she's an author, but not all authors are great writers. Robyn Roze can WRITE a story that keeps you turning the pages...a book flawless in its editing, and not a glitch or a hitch in the continuity of the story as conflict ensues and intrigue builds. And what a story it is! Revved-up romance at its very best, with an absorbing plot about ruthless deception and ensuing mortal danger. Hellkat has all the elements of a truly engrossing read, and I gladly give it 5+ stars!
