HELP ME!

Children/Young Adult; Mystery/Thriller; (Market)

A novella about a boy named Mick and his struggles with life. His parent’s divorce and a friend’s suicide make his world unbearable. Each “cut” has a deeper meaning. A cry for help. “I spin my dad’s Ruger SP101 revolver on the wood floor of my bedroom. Sometimes, just to see what it feels like, I place the tip of the gun against my temple, but I never once pull the trigger. NO!” “I’m more into the slice of the blade against my skin and the blood running down my arm.” “It relieves so much pressure.” “And I can breathe again…”

Author, Donna M. Zadunajsky wrote an excellent novella about a very important, taboo subject that families and friends still don't want to talk about.....It's about teen bullying, in all forms now that we have social media, not just at school.......It includes teen mental illnesses such as: depression, anxiety, coping mechanisms, self-mutilation by cutting, and suicide.....More common today than ever before.....The storyline easily flows between alternating persons telling there sides to the very emotional and painful situation.... It is a very raw and thought provoking story that every parent and teen should read.....Concluded with a smart and a very satisfying ending....

She starts off with an introduction to the story by letting you know this was inspired by something her teen daughter went through with someone else......Also, remembering personal experiences with teen angst, bullying and depression that the author herself endured many years ago......Where everything was hushed up and no where to turn too...She then provides for you web addresses that you can reach out for help to talk to someone......Also included is a 1-800-Suicide, Hotline number for when your ready.....If you feel you can't talk to your parents or friends.......

Meet Mick Connors, a 14 year old teen suffering from bullying at school and social media.....Comes from a dysfunctional home....Changes schools twice......His best friend just committed suicide in an atrocious way......He feels guilty all the time for his friend's death and doesn't know anyway to cope or have anyone to talk too......His best way to relieve the emotional pain and stress is by cutting his arms with a razor.....A deep secret he hides almost very well, until one day....

Meet Layla Manning, a 13 year old girl that is best friend's with Mick......One day, she sees something by accident that she should not have.....Now she is riddled with guilt of not knowing what else to do.....The heaviness and stress starts to weigh on her until she has only one choice.....That is to try and save her friend's life......

This is a very educational novella for parents to look for signs that something is not right with their child......Such as being quite, withdrawn, no friends, loss of appetite and keeping to their selves...A wonderful way to open up or engage your child into talking with you so they can get professional help......
