His Highland Lass by Celeste Barclay was a book that I was compelled to finish once I started. I fell completely head over heels for the Sinclair clan! Ladies and gents can I tell you how refreshing it was to read about these strapping men who were really kind and loving to their sister. From the father Liam to the youngest Magnus, I found myself quite in love with them all. I really hope Barclay’s next book in the series might feature one of the brothers, although I might be a tad jealous of the heroine within it then. I also felt as though I learned a lot more about Scottish historical and cultural practises of this time period through the accounts provided by Barclay especially with regards to the general duties around the keep as well as the different aspects of clothing, particularly the men and their kilts.

This was my first historical romance and I have to say it didnt disappoint. His Highland Lass, took me on an exciting, sexy, action packed, and heartfelt journey, while staying true to the time period. Barclay has a way with words and her beautiful writing made this novel so enjoyable. At times - because of how accurate she was with staying true to the history - the dialogue was hard to read, but once I got past that, it was fantastic. I highly recommend this novel to anyone looking for a beautiful historical romance

Mairghread is promised to his stepbrother, but Tristan decides he’d rather have her for himself. Now he just needs to convince her and her family that he is worthy of her. The attempts at recreating local dialect and incorporating some historical terminology were a little over the top at times, but once you get past that, this is a really good story. I loved the characters! The interaction between the many Sinclair brothers and their sister’s suitor was great and at times very comical. Mairghread and Tristan face many obstacles as they attempt to secure her father’s consent to the match, and I loved how determined they were to stand by each other through it all. Fun read, and I look forward to further tales from the Sinclair family!

This was my introduction to the Clan Sinclair and it was outstanding. I was captivated from the beginning with an arranged betrothal to an oaf who would mistreat women, a strong woman who could defend herself, a kidnapping and near disaster - WOW! I really enjoy strong women and the men who can protect, love and respect them!! Don't miss this series!

What a wonderful Highland Romance! First book I've read of Celeste Barclay's but won't be the last. I fell in love with the Clan Sinclair. What an exciting, action packed, sexy, heartfelt journey! Every little girl deserves a big brother like Magnus. Looking forward to reading book 2.

My Favourite Quotes:

“‘Ye ken they say that home is where ye’re from, but home is also where the heart is.  I ken that means I can have more than one home.'”

“He remembered the little girl that she was as he held the woman she had become.”

My Thoughts:

His Highland Lass by Celeste Barclay was a book that I was compelled to finish once I started. As my usual romance reads are ones that I would describe as ones of a tame sexual nature, this book really made me blush as I read the lusty moments between the main characters.

I did however fall completely head over heels for the Sinclair clan!

This was definitely a refreshing read. Even though my cheeks are still aflame thinking about certain scenes within the book, if that is something you enjoy literary lovelies, I would definitely recommend this book for its great characterization and overall ability to grab the reader and hold them close.

I heart His Highland Lass this much:
