The story of a true American hero. Hugh Glass lived as an ordinary seaman until, in 1817 and at age 37, his ship was captured by pirates and he was forced into a life of piracy. He later escaped from the pirates, off of Galveston Island, only to be recaptured again, this time by Pawnee Indians. The Pawnees killed his only friend, then adopted Glass into the tribe. He lived with the Pawnees for nearly four years before finally returning to civilization in late 1822. Unable to return to the sea, he joined the Rocky Mountain Fur Company, where he would face his greatest test--mauled by an enraged grizzly, he was then robbed and left to die by his companions, hundreds of miles from civilization... This is the TRUE story that inspired the movie "THE REVENANT"!
