Humility
Dorothy McDonald, author
Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, (Philippians 3:8)
We can be happy and humble as Apostle Paul was. The infamous thorn in the flesh made him humble. At first, he wanted it to be gone, but he then learned to rejoice with it. He allowed his infirmity to make him strong with his Master and Savior Jesus Christ. He eventually gloried in it. He gloried in the close relationship it gave him with God. Paul learned that his infirmity was not a curse but a blessing. His humbleness was a place of blessing, power, and joy.
The same passage is taken by almost all Christians to come to that close relationship with God through humility.
Stage 1 - seeking deliverance from the affliction that can be used to humble them.
Stage 2 - seeking to obey Him and be humble then fail at that.
Stage 3 - praying for humility and still run from what will humble him.
