In late 1941, actor Humphrey Bogart is a disgruntled mid-level movie star, He is making $2,000 a week and fellow actor Errol Flynn is making $15,000 a week. Bogie decides to get out of the "make believe movie business" and obtains a detective badge to do some sleuthing for a living. Little does he know SuperStardom is just a round the corner for him.
