It wasn’t me – A review of the novel ‘Identity Crisis’
"You have the Answer. Just get quiet enough to hear it." - Laurie Stevens
Author Vicki L. Zell’s ‘Identity Crisis’ tells the story of identical twin sisters caught up in a spiraling case of suspense, intrigue and murder. When a psychologist treating Darlene is murdered, she becomes the prime suspect and the sisters lives are turned upside down. They soon find themselves in a position where they can’t trust anyone, including themselves.
Vicki has got great control over her narrative and once she establishes the setting and its players, you will find it hard to disengage yourself from the world she has created. You can’t escape the eerie atmosphere or the feeling that something sinister is about to happen soon. Both the sisters appear very life-like and their relationship has a great deal of realism to it. The beauty of strong characterization is that even though the narrative suggests that either sister might be the killer, at the back of your mind you keep hoping it’s not them because you want them to have a shot at a better life. With various characters coming into the mix with their own agenda, the plot line remains relevant and the suspense is kept alive till the very end.
Psychological thriller fans should enjoy this and so will anyone who enjoys a tight mystery novel.
