It's All Greek to Me

Adult; General Fiction (including literary and historical); (Market)

Single, thirty-something Emily Potens would just as soon stay on her couch with a pillow over her head than face what her life has become. In a downward spiral of misfortune, she’s lost everything she holds dear—her parents, her job, her home…even her cat. Falling through the porch of the decrepit sorority house at which she now works is only the icing on the cake. And then she meets Michael, with those deep blue eyes... Determined to start over, Emily throws herself into her new life. While learning the finer points of adulting, such as how to live on a budget and how to get a man that’s not gay, Emily begins to unravel the mystery surrounding her parents’ untimely death—the catalyst of her own misfortune. But as she gets closer, Emily must ask herself if she’s willing to risk her own life, and a new chance at love, to learn the truth. Because sometimes, digging up the past can have deadly consequences.
Reviews
Andrea Johnston, Author - Goodreads Review

I really enjoyed this sweet mystery romance. There's minimal angst and just enough of a mystery for it to feel like a Hallmark movie. And for me that's a win!! Sweet moments with sprinklings of humor and silliness make this a great light read for the summer.

Jules the Book Junkie Reviews Blog

It’s All Greek to Me is a cute cozy mystery.  It follows the genre standards in terms of the “chatty” narration.  The writing is very descriptive.  There’s a lot going on with the main character.  The mystery is something hanging over her head, but it is not the primary focus of much of the storyline.

Ms. Aldrich did a great job including some plot points that subtlety added to the suspense and reminded readers that the book is a mystery. The book will appeal to fans of Mary Kay Andrews’ cozy mysteries.

From questionable best friends, left-behind sorority sisters, and contractors, It’s All Greek to Me is filled with delightful characters. The storyline alludes to the main character’s previous snobby attitude as a trust fund baby, but I didn’t see that in the character.  Life is hitting her with punch after punch, but she takes it in chin and keeps on swinging. There were plenty of characters to like and dislike.  Each one added greatly to the storyline.

It’s All Greek to Me is a quick, fun read, and it has an intriguing ending that could easily segue into a sequel (not a cliff hanger)! Ms. Aldrich’s debut novel is a delight, and I look forward to reading more from the author.
