Children's book gives youths an inside (and fun) look at IndyCar
When it comes to fast reads, “Josef, the Indy Car Driver” deserves a spot on any young racing fan’s podium—or bookshelf.
A collaboration between author/illustrator Chris Workman and Verizon IndyCar Series driver Josef Newgarden—and with a foreword by NBCSN racing commentator Leigh Diffey—the book is part racing primer, part biography, part day in the life of a race-car driver and part hold-onto-your-steering-wheel ride on an IndyCar race day at Road America.
“I am hopeful that kids are attracted first to this book because of the unique visual approach and storyline,” says Newgarden. “I know when I was a kid when I saw something exciting and fun, I was interested in it regardless of the subject matter. Growing kids’ interest in racing and IndyCar will be a natural effect if they like what they are reading. This type of content can be extremely engaging to young kids and fans of IndyCar racing.”
The book is geared to race fans ages 5 and older who like to dream big, and the author is also making available an accompanying coloring book geared to the even younger set (truth be told, the coloring book can also be a blast for Mom and Dad, who might enjoy designing colorful liveries).
The book can be purchased for $19.99 at amzn.to/2a6fw9q and apexlegends.com/store. A portion of the proceeds goes to Racing for Kids—a foundation that contributes to the health care needs of children—and Racing for Cancer.
