Pippa Taylor is a London waitress who has no interest in horses. But when she inherits a racehorse called Peace Offering and discovers her late uncle's wish to run him in the Grand National, Pippa ditches city life for the country in an attempt to see the wish come true. But country life is deceptive: beneath its peaceful facade lies adventure, blackmail, and love. Pippa mightn't be the most experienced of racing secretaries, but she has a resourcefulness and optimism that moody horse trainer, Jack Carmichael, finds hard to resist. But with other partners to think of, they struggle against their desires. That is, until the Grand National weekend, when more than one question will be answered.
