A doctor working in medical marijuana research is killed and his widow, Emma, wants to know why. She hires a neophyte private detective, Betsy Connolly (who also appears in the hotel mystery series) to find out. Betsy and Emma work together to catch the killer and discover that it's not one homicide. It's more and counting. They use every tool they have to find out what secret the hospital in Israel is keeping. They must reveal the connection with cannabis. Using Emma's skill on the internet and Betsy's ability to spy, they will expose the anguish that created a killer, but not before they find themselves in danger.
