This book was an answer to a prayer. I read it straight through, then went back and did the exercises while reading it again. It helped me prioritize and look at issues differently and with better goals. I have now passed it on to a friend to help her grow. I would recommend it to anyone who feels they have tried everything because this is refreshingly new.

"Lose the Weight, Lose the Baggage" was a book inspired me to look inward at myself. By having her readers keep notes and do much soul searching as you read it is very helpful and healing. I enjoy reading books to challenge myself, and look within, and this book gives me that opportunity. Its a book that helps you reflect on your inner well-being, she uses her concept referred to as (physical, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual) P.I.E.S. I feel like the books format is very useful, especially for a person looking to reflect and better themselves. If you need encouragement, to find hope, and to build yourself worth, this book is for you

I have read this book and will be reading it again. It was as if the author knew my thoughts, knew my life with everything she shared. As there are so many books on the market about life, weight and how to overcome things, I found this book to explain many things to me and, it has caused me to think, really think about my life, and I am now able to deal with the fact the baggage I carry does attribute to my weight issues...but no more. Thank you Ms. Stremcha for taking the time to write this book.

This is a great workbook for any women whether suffering from past or current issues of abuse, weight, grief, or self-confidence/esteem/worth, or not. Stremcha simply creates solutions with insight and knowledge from her personal experiences to benefit your sense of self. She asks you step out of your comfort zone, but it is well worth it. Put the simple work into what she offers and you will be satisfied with the results and recognize an overwhelmingly sense of happiness

This book shows the reality of what life brings, good, bad, and in between. In it, you see how even in the times of struggle and weakness how to push through and discover the beauty, light, strength and true personal growth you can achieve. The book allows you to work through personal baggage and participate at your level of comfort. You will feel a weight has lifted once you allow your strength to shine through. Great read!

When you first pick up Lorna Stremcha's "Lose the Baggage, Lose the Weight", you may want to immediately pigeonhole it as just another self-help book. I know I did. For me, self-help is a genre that never, ever works. I don't like easy, cookie cutter answers to life's complexities, a quality I've come to expect in such books.

Then I began reading.
If this is self-help (and I don't think it is), then it is unlike anything I've ever seen. Stremcha doesn't just talk about the issues women face, she engages the reader and does so on a most intimate level. She discloses her own life struggles and asks the reader to do the same. The chapters are sub-divided into 1) smaller `puzzle piece' sections, 2) quotes, 3) workbook-like exercises, and, my favorite device, 4) writing opportunities. That's right, you, the reader will write your own reflections, list those things about which you are thankful, dump your own baggage, etc. By its very nature, writing draws one out and becomes a process of self-discovery. Recognizing this is a stroke of genius and sets this book apart from the rest. In this regard, Lose the Baggage isn't just another read. It is a journey that if taken for what it is will bring the reader to a new place.

I would and have recommended Lose the Baggage, Lose the Weight to the women I love. I hope you also will take the journey.

“Lorna Stremcha captures the struggles we all face in this world through determination and through God. She invites the reader to challenge what they are going through and work through it by seeking ways to change their view of the world into a more positive outlook. Very valuable information for those who have survived peer abuse or any other form of abuse out there. Good stuff! This gives the reader hope that there are ways to combat this and avoid the ugly traps we all face when dealing with abusers.”

Lose the Baggage, Lose the Weight: A Woman-to-Woman Recipe for Life reminds us of the basic truths many of us were taught when growing up but forgot during our hectic and often self-absorbed lives. It is common sense revisited. The book is sprinkled with poignant life experiences of the author during a painful and difficult childhood. After reading, you may put the book up, but you will not forget it.”

No matter how hard we try it seems we all carry around baggage from our past. Whether you were the fat kid on the playground or come from an abusive home, those old emotional hurts seem to stick around for a lifetime. This book is a wonderful inspiration to help you rise above, whether you're battling with weight issues or trying to get your life in the right direction. The workbook pages found throughout allow you to sit down and figure out where you're messing yourself up, and what you're doing right. I found Lorna Stremcha's message inspiring and very motivational. Her focus is on the whole person rather than just one aspect, reminding you that so often there's much more to shedding those unwanted pounds than just putting down the fork. Her guide goes way deeper than just telling you to ignore your growling tummy, and I truly believe anyone who takes her words to heart will not only find success in their weight loss goals but improve their overall outlook on life

Lorna's "Lose the Weight, Lose the Baggage" is unlike any other book I have read. Instead of just giving readers the tools to work through issues, she asks you to work for it as you read. There is space in each chapter that she asks you to write reflections or answers to questions. I believe this is so much more effective than most books. Her P.I.E.S.(physical, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual) philosophy focuses on you as a whole, knowing that if one part of this is being neglected, you will suffer. This philosophy is attainable if you just take the time to make yourself worth the effort. Lorna is an inspiration and shares many personal trials and triumphs that are motivating to someone needing hope. If you are a woman who struggles with your self-worth, use this book as an opportunity to live the life you deserve

Viewing emotional turmoil in terms of baggage and excess weight is a great analogy. We all have had life experiences that have shaped either habits or ideas that are probably not servings us to our highest good and the only way to grow is to find a way to shed those habits and false ideas. Author Lorna Stremcha has written a fantastic book about just how to do this with her "Lose the Baggage: Lose the Weight." By looking at not just physical weight issues but underlying emotional entanglements, Stremcha gives some solid action steps for anyone who is ready for change. This has been very helpful to me in letting go of several things that I feel were holding me back both physically and emotionally
