For anyone who would like to read this book, I strongly suggest that you read Maybe Baby first because it sets the foundation for this story. Maybe Tonight is not only of a continuation of Maybe Baby, but it also the retelling of scenes between Mads and Laney from Maybe Baby, but all from Mads’ POV. The reader gets inside of Mads’ head and experiences things from his perspective-beginning with one of his baby-making interludes (I’m like hello why you gotta screw these women-turkey baster and sperm…but I digress) to his meeting Laney for the first time and the progression of their clandestine relationship beyond. You will fall in love with this man I tell you! Not only is he good with his hands (he’s a master craftsman), but he’s good with his heart and other parts of his anatomy (wink).
Kim Golden is such a great storyteller. When you read her books, you feel like a voyeur who is spying on the private lives of these characters. You are transported into their world, and you can’t look away. You want the story to go on and on…I love how Mads and Laney are so attuned to each other. They are love at first sight personified, and you route for them in spite of her being in a committed relationship (albeit fruitless and somewhat loveless). This is NOT a story about infidelity, but one of falling in love for the first time but at the wrong time…
I highly recommend this book and it’s companion Maybe Baby. I’m ready to book my flight to Copenhagen!
