MISSION TO EARTH
FIL MUNAS, author

Adult; General Fiction (including literary and historical); (Market)

A gripping scientific novel recounting the history of Earth and the enigmatic ways of life on that planet. With stunning authenticity this book depicts the amazing evolutionary saga and continuing journey for Earth's now dominant species, Homo sapiens.

EARTH IS VISITED. . . .ROGER!

“This is the account of a mission I undertook from Galymon to a small rocky planet in a quiet quadrant of our present Universe. My original report regarding this matter was delivered to the Most High Tribunal of Galymon which is the Supreme Authority on my home planet. I wish to acknowledge my deep gratitude to our High Tribunal for this opportunity. . .”

And with those astonishing words Mac, the alien protagonist in this extraordinary tale, masterfully recounts the history of Earth since its beginning 4.54 billion years ago, and relates with amazing authenticity the 200,000 year odyssey of Homo sapiens, and how they became the dominant species on their planet today. This scientific novel colorfully channels the reader from the inception of the Universe 13.8 billion years ago, to the present. The narrative describes the exponential rise of these humans—from speciation in East Africa to modern space traveler, from preliterate hunter-gatherer to accomplished brain-surgeon, from tinkering with fire to building nuclear reactors. And on this breathtaking journey, the reader is always kept supremely informed and pleasantly entertained.

But—with their starkly genocidal ethos, can this species survive? A novel with footnotes. . .

From the Big Bang to mass extinctions, from the nature of life to the future of humans, it’s all here and it’s pure magic!

A magnificent survey of human existence

There are very few books that deliver what they promise. Mission to Earth is one of those rare books. I approached it expecting some patchy brilliance, interspersed between vast expanses of mundane and boring. Mission to Earth quickly dispels any such negative expectations. From the very first page you know you are about to be treated with a smorgasbord of most diverse and deep facts about who we are, where we come from, and why we behave the way we do.The book reminds you of A Brief History of Time by Stephen Hawkings, but perhaps more wide-ranging and certainly as readable. The book starts with a tour de force of the universe and our place in it, and as you begin to marvel at the authors grasp of astronomy he quickly takes you into rich terrain of biology, evolution, human origin, origin of life itself, anthropology, philosophy, molecular biology, religion, government and warfare, leaving you spellbound. There is not a single page which does not teach you something new and something you always wanted to know.If one has the time to read just one book which would tell the most about us and our place in the universe, on the planet, and in society, in a style that is uniformly engaging, in a prose that is erudite yet simple, this is the book.

Fantastic depth and insight into Earth’s ways from an alien’s perspective

I read this book three times. Once - speed read through it to get an idea of what I was expecting. Second, to look up the terms I did not grasp or understand. Thrice - to enjoy it. I found it very funny because this is just how I feel when people say they are "hunting" ghosts. I can imagine what the "ghosts" are saying about us on their plane of existence.

I found this book marvelous!!!!! I truly enjoyed a perspective from an alien from another galaxy and he is "spot on" about Earth and its very strange ways of dealing with things.

I love astronomy and math and this book incorporates a perfect blend of those two subjects I am absolutely crazy about. I was surprised that a "first timer" would write so well. Very well written and an excellent source to turn to if you truly want to understand Earth.

Excellent job Munas!!!! Looking forward to your SECOND novel.
