This was a great read! What I love is that these books contain so many facts and historical items that we can research together as a family. We learn so much while reading a Morgan book. My kids, 9 and 6, asked me to read and reread Morgan and the Forty Thieves and Monster of the Deep is no different! We look forward to more books about Morgan’s adventures!
Since we had so much fun with the first Morgan book, we were very excited to read this book! My second-grade class has really enjoyed the problem-solving and interactive elements of this series. As a teacher, I love the way that this book integrates reading and math standards in such an engaging way. My whole class loved this book so much! It was a definite win-win for us!
I read aloud to my children. The books I choose are important. Dare I say that substance in children's books can be hard to find. We just finished "Morgan and the Forty Thieves" the first book and the series and with amazing timing, the second book "Morgan and the Monster of The Deep" came out. Which warranted shrieks of joy from my 8 and 10-year-old. Adventure, magic, mystery and endearing characters make this book a gem in a sea of mundane children's book. This book is full of facts and knowledge presented in a way that is fun and engaging. I won't divulge too much of the book because it's best the reader can go on the adventure without spoilers. I will add that I found myself reading ahead at night because I wanted to get to the ending sooner than our read-aloud schedule permitted. This book gets the seal of approval from one persnickety 8-year-old boy, a busy bee of a ten-year-old girl and one 36 hard to please mama.
