Mr Broccoli is the tale of a young boy, Jacob, who is feeling sad and fed up. Through discovering the health benefits of eating his greens, he becomes stronger and more confident. Anti-bullying is also an important theme in the story, to help children learn to respect others and feel more confident in themselves. Mr Broccoli is a character who already has that confidence, and later becomes a role model.

Good Reads

First off, I think the artwork for this book is exceptional. It is a story about a little boy named Jacob who is teased by the other children for not being as strong and confident as they are. Upon returning home, Jacob meets "Mr. Broccoli," who explains the benefits that eating vegetables can have on a growing child: strength and confidence. Jacob listens a little while, then happily decides he wants to grow and strong so he chooses to eat his vegetables. All in all, I think this is a very useful tool for young children, and we all know some picky eaters. I would recommend it to parents of a toddler or even slightly older child.
