THIS IS A REAL LIFE "CATHY COME HOME" STORY!!!!!!!
After listening to a friend's experience of social services and her view of the secrecy and lies she encountered when her children were in care; I had the view that, I'm sure most people have - surely the social services are there to help families?
If you read this I'm sure it will change your view.
The book is a true story about a family who asks for help with a simple housing problem, only to have their eight week old baby girl snatched from them in the street by two social workers and the fight to get the baby back. The legal loopholes, the tricks, the abuse of power is astounding. If the "SS" get their claws into you WATCH OUT! It's a heart wrenching book which starts in September 1985 and continues in detail to 2014 and of how "Dave" manages to fight tooth and nail against the establishment who all seem to stick together to cover each others backs. The sad account of Martha, the baby's mom who ends up with severe mental health problems.
I really don't know how Dave, the dad managed to stay sane himself, with the way he was treated by the people we are all led to believe we should trust. After reading this book, which at times reduced me to tears and at others made me laugh out loud, I Googled "Forced Adoption" and found a website which seemed to endorse all that was in the book. This is not an isolated case by any means, but I'm sure that if Dave had not been so committed to keeping his family together whatever it took, not only his first child, but his other two children would have been lost to the "CARE" system. DAVID took on a GOLIATH family court.... not many win.
