Meet Dazzle who was born into a tribe of flying squirrels in the story My Heart Song by Sister Solana D’cunha. Dazzle could not fly and spent most of his time thinking and reading. His cousin Hopper was loyal to his friends and family and contented with his life. They lived on the Windy Mountain and the chief of their tribe, Landau, disliked Dazzle because he was weak. He did not want to keep Dazzle on the Windy Mountain. Landau gives Dazzle ten days to prove his worth. Hopper has a plan. He decides to find the strongest person in the world to help Dazzle and they both set out on an adventure of a lifetime. Will Dazzle and Hopper be able to find the strongest person? Will Dazzle be able to prove his mettle to Landau? What does he do?
It is a beautiful story about hope, self acceptance, self confidence, faith, and friendship. The illustrations are adorable and magical like the story and its characters, and these give good pace and movement to the plot. It is a good story for classroom read aloud and storytelling sessions and will encourage children to have confidence in themselves and help them realize that there is always a solution to problems if handled wisely. Parents and grandparents can use it for bedtime storytelling sessions to make their children and grandchildren discover their hidden talents and strengths. Stories like this with a good concept and message are beneficial when expressed with the help of cute animal characters as this makes it easy for children to understand the message and the concept easily.
