3.0 out of 5 stars   `Understanding offensive communication usually starts with feeling offended'

By Grady Harp  HALL OF FAME  TOP 100 REVIEWER  VINE VOICE on May 25, 2015   Format: Paperback

Nicholas Andrew Stewart takes on a worthy subject in his book OFFENDED - a project that began as a blog and now is in book form. It is brief but cogent and addresses a state of mind and a degree of communication that we all confront on a daily basis. His goal is to help us see and hear what is offensive, to avoid being offensive and understand that it is healthier to feel offended is preferable to being offensive.

His book is full of quick thoughts, one liners (like blogs) but they all seem to come together to help us with this communication and emotional conundrum. For example: `Chances are that you will be offended and at times you may be offensive, being offensive would get you into trouble every time because offended people have a defensive strategy to overcome your offensive.` `Always be smart and on alert for `real concerns' - deal with them by doing the right thing.' `Keeping the peace when confronted with a reason to be offensive is much more likely to be a positive experience because you will not be to blames for disturbing the peace.'

While there are many good point made by Nicholas, the words still come across as blogs. It would be better to digest these a while and then write a book format rather than rushing to publication - even though what he has to say is important. Grady Harp, May 15
