PAGES IN THE WIND is a fast-paced, mainstream novel set in San Francisco during the 1960s. The novel weaves through the tortured life of a young girl hindered by family secrets, the unexplained death of a twin sister, severe abuse, a disconnected self-image, and a peculiar attachment to an old Bloomingdales box filled with her drawings. She is driven to live through her art, personifying the imaginary girls she sketches. Following the murder of her father, she works with an aging renowned psychiatrist who quickly grows sympathetic to Emily and her disturbing childhood, and becomes obsessed with unlocking the reason for her need to embody the fictional girls she creates. The doctor and patient develop a warm and abiding partnership, sifting through unexpected revelations and troubling events culminating in a shocking revelation that neither saw coming.
